Caño Island Diving Tour, 2 tanks:

Caño Island Diving Tour, 2 tanks

Caño Island is one of the richest places in Submarine water to visit Costa Rica. There is a great amount of fish and other kinds of animals that live there the whole year (There is a great number of marine mammals that can only be seen during specific seasons of the year).

For example: Reef Sharks, Giant Manta Rays, Mobula Rays, Sting Rays, Sea Turtles,
Groupers, Snappers, Angels, Moorish Idols, Trumpet-fish, various types of Eels, Crustaceans, huge schools of Barracuda, Jacks, Grunts, and much more. Sharks are guaranteed if you dive with us just two days.

The corals are not as colorful or abundant as the Caribbean. The currents are usually mild but on some days can be strong. Boats are guided by certified PADI Instructors or Dive-masters. All dive staff is Medic 1st Aid and Oxygen Provider Certified. The boats are small and fast. So you can have a better experience, we have custom built boats; one- 21ft for 5 divers and our 30ft boat for 10 divers. The average time to reach the dive sites are from 45 min to 1hour. The average dive depths are from 60ft to 100ft.

Some places are described in the following text. It is possible to choose the spot that you are more interested in, never the less, there is no guaranteed to go because it depends on the specific conditions of time, tides and visibility.

El Bajo Del Diablo (Devil’s Pinnacles): The best site by far in the area and one of the best in the entire country, a huge area with many sub sites. Towering rock pinnacles rise from over 150 ft to just less than 20 ft from the surface. It has the best visibility, overall fish life and the best place to encounter Giant Mantas. This is an incredible maze of peaks and valleys. Groupers, snappers and amberjack reaching 70lb, swim alongside great schools of big eye jacks, barracuda, reef sharks and a large number of different tropical fishes. At least 4 species of eels can be found. With luck, you may encounter a large school of mobula mantas, numbering 25 or more.

Cueva Del Tiburon (Shark Cave): A small cave that is home to, you guessed it, sharks! Other inhabitants include angels, butterfly, damsels and parrotfish; Moorish idols, puffers, surgeonfish, and occasionally mantas and stingrays. A great location to sight zebra, green and tiger snake eels. A very exciting dive!

Los Arcos (The Arches): Unique rock formations formed in the shape of arches. Swim through these towering underwater arches and see fish life similar to the Shark Cave due to its close proximity.

El Barco (The Wreck): No wreck here, only a variety of rock formations with the areas most plentiful array of hard corals. Fish life abounds and a great dive to encounter white tip reef sharks, sting rays, and an occasional sea turtle.

Paraíso (Paradise): Prolific fish life. Excellent site to view white tip reef sharks. Huge schools of jacks, blue stripped snapper can be found here as well as a number of the popular smaller species. A great site for grunts, barracuda. A look inside to view lobsters, eels and an occasional octopus.
